Any horse created or bred by (i.e., we own the mare at the time of breeding) Sunfeather Farms falls under this contract. This contract does not apply to horses not bred by Sunfeather Farms, or to foals resulting from the breeding of our stallions to outside mares. Breaches of this contract may result in a reclaim of the contracted horse(s). Questions should be directed to Jaye, either via email, or through PM at SAI/The Sim Community (forum name: Jaye).
General Stipulations
- Any horse bred by Sunfeather Farms will carry the affix "SFX" either before or after its name. The full name "Sunfeather" may also be used as a prefix, particularly if a breed's naming conventions require a one-word prefix.
- A working URL for any horse bred or purchased from Sunfeather Farms must be provided to Jaye within 30 days of breeding/purchase, unless you have notified her in advance that you'll be away and unable to create the horse's page.
- If the foal is sold or moved, an updated URL must be provided within 30 days of the move/sale.
- If, at any point, Jaye needs to reclaim a horse, a notice will posted on SAI and TSC. Owners will have at least one week (7 days) between the reclaim warning and actual reclaiming to fix whatever issues have necessitated the reclaim. After one week (7 days), the horse will be reclaimed.
Buybacks & Importing
- Jaye retains lifetime buybacks (right of first refusal) on all horses bred at Sunfeather Farms, or foals produced for custom breedings using a Sunfeather mare. This means that if you are unable or unwilling to keep any horse bred at Sunfeather Farms, the offer to purchase or reclaim the horse is extended to Jaye first, and that she must approve any other homes to which the foal might go.
- Importation of any Sunfeather-bred horse to any closed game must be discussed with Jaye first. Generally, importation will only be allow in two circumstances: a.) Jaye is an active, participating member of the game in question, or b.) the game participates in all-sim and has a guest-viewable registry or database, which will allow the horse to be exported and reclaimed should you go inactive.
Aging & Stat Changes
- Sunfeather Farms ages annually/in real time. All horses age one year on January 1.
- As such, our mares are limited to one foal per birth year.
- Foals should always be at least four (4) years younger than their dams and at least three (3) years younger than their sires. Beyond this, you are free to age the foal on whatever time scale is preferable for your barn.
- Stats changes will only be allowed at the time of purchase or breeding, and within limits set by Sunfeather at that time. Generally, these limits will be as follows: foals should be a realistic color given their parents' colors, and should compete in a discipline suitable to the foals' lines.
- Retraining may be allowed on a case-by-case basis, as long as the new discipline is breed-appropriate and in line with the foal's breeding.
- As a courtesy, please speak to Jaye prior to gelding a Sunfeather-bred colt. Jaye reserves the right to breed foals from the stallion prior to gelding, in order to preserve the lines.
Showing
- Foals or sold horses should be competed in their appropriate association(s).
- Showing does not have to occur at SAI/TSC, but evidence should be visible on the foals' page. Show records should be collected/added at least once per month.
- Ideally, I'd like to see Sunfeather-bred foals competed regularly for at least two or three years/show seasons before being retired to stud or brood.
